Design Selector - Dawn Theme 15.02

The Design Selector Snippet allows you to capture and display a customer's uploaded image using custom Metafields. When a customer places an order, their uploaded image is saved and shown as a larger preview on the product page. This snippet does not include upsell functionality—it purely captures and previews the image without additional charges

How to Install and Set Up the Design Selector Snippet

1. Download the Theme Files

   • First, download the theme files that contain the required RTF files for the snippet.

2. Add the Design Selector Snippet

   • Open your Shopify admin and navigate to Online Store > Themes.
   • Click Edit Code on your active theme.
   • In the Snippets folder, create a new snippet called design-selector.
   • Open the RTF file included in the download and paste its contents into the newly created design-selector.liquid file.
   • Save the snippet.

3. Modify the Main Product Template

   • In the Sections folder, open main-product.liquid (or the equivalent for your theme).
   • Locate the buy buttons section.
   • Right above the buy buttons code, add the second RTF file provided in the download.
   • Save the changes.

4. Enable the Design Selector Block in the Theme Editor

   • Go to Online Store > Themes > Customize.
   • Navigate to the Products template.
   • Add a new block called Design Selector to the product template.
   • Drag the Design Selector block above the variant selector.
   • Save your changes.

5. Create a Custom Metafield

   • Go to Settings > Custom Data > Products.
   • Click Add a new metafield and configure it as follows:
     • Namespace and key: custom.design_options
     • Type: Files
     • Allow multiple file uploads
     • Support all file types
   • Save the metafield.

6. Assign Images to the Metafield

   • Go to Products and scroll to the bottom of a product page.
   • Locate the Metafields section.
   • Upload the images that you want to associate with this product.
   • Save the product.

Your Design Selector Snippet is now fully set up! Customers will be able to upload images when placing orders, and those images will be stored in metafields and displayed in a larger preview on the product page.
